Sydney Shinelle McIntosh was born in the great city of Chicago on September 5, 1985 to Michelle and Sidney McIntosh.
This was their very first picture together in October 2008 at a restaurant/club called Dolce in Atlanta and Devin has kept this smile on Sydney's face ever since. They actually met in December 2007 at CNN. Sydney doesn't remember the exact moment they met, but Devin does. According to Devin, he was training on the teleprompter and Sydney was floor directing in some shiny black pants for CNN newsroom.
After a fun night hanging out together, Devin decided to ask Sydney out to a Hawks vs. Pistons games after receiving free tickets from a co-worker. It was a perfect first date for two sports lovers. This was the same year Allen Iverson was on the Pistons, and of course, Sydney already had tickets to this game, but staying true to himself, Allen Iverson didn't play in that game. So, Sydney had sold her tickets a few days before for $90.
Their first trip to NYC was quite an adventure and one of their funniest memories. They almost blew away on a ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty. There were parking lot fights, they got lost in New Jersey and had to pay a $50 cab fare to get back to NYC. But it was all worth it when they had front row seats to Fela on broadway which turned out to be the most amazing show they ever seen.
Our first Chicago Bears vs. New Orleans Saints game together and Sydney's first time seeing her Bears in person. They traveled to Chicago for the game to watch with Sydney's parents. The only one who left the stadium happy was Devin. The Saints won 26-18.
Friday, July 25th will now go down as the happiest day of my life so far. It was just normal a hot summer day in Ruston, Louisiana (Devin’s hometown) and Devin wanted to drive around his old stomping grounds, Grambling State University. This was him amping himself up for the big moment. After that, we drove to a park called Hideaway Park (perfect name!). Devin said he had never been to this park and wanted to walk around. I said sure and thought nothing of it. It was a very secluded park. We basically had it all to ourselves. We held hands and talked about life and our future. We noticed a tree that couples had engraved their initials in. It was quite lovely. I then wanted to go see the lake and skip rocks across it. We walked down the hill to see the lake and I started taking pictures. As I was admiring the lake, Devin hugged up on me from behind and put his chin on my shoulder. He then slipped a box in my hand. I was so confused at what was happening at that very moment. I eventually realized it was the moment I had been waiting for all year so I turned around and faced my moment. Devin got on one knee and said,”I don’t have a big speech because I don’t feel I need one. I know I want to do this. I don’t have it all figured out, but I want to figure it out with you. Will you marry me?” Through my tears, I said YES!
It was perfect.
Their first passport stamp together. This trip was considered as their pre-moon and they also went to celebrate Sydney's mom's 50th birthday. Dune bugging was their favorite part of the trip!
THE BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES!!! The Ultimate Turn Up.
